CoABE 2004—Call for Presenters
November 4, 2003

 “Dear State Directors:

I hope that you, your state staff, and your local programs are planning to attend COABE in Ohio this spring.  Here is an update from Rick McIntosh, our COABE Co-Chair.  We hope to see you!

Denise Pottmeyer

Proposals for presentations are still being accepted for the 2004 Commission on Adult Basic Education (COABE) conference.

COABE and the Ohio Association for Adult and Continuing Education (OAACE) invite you to submit a proposal for presentation at the 2004 COABE National Conference to be held in Columbus, Ohio. Conference dates are April 24-28, 2004, at the Hyatt Regency.

The conference committee is interested in outstanding and innovative practices in all aspects of adult education including basic literacy, workforce development, family literacy, English-as-a-Second-Language, correctional education, and all other areas. The program committee is looking for presentations which are based on successful implementation, current research, and sound practice.

The Call for Presentation packet is available for download at the conference web site, If you would prefer, I can e-mail the packet to you. The deadline for submitting a proposal is November 15.

If you have specific questions about the conference, please do not hesitate to contact me. If I cannot help you, I will be sure to put you in touch with the appropriate individual.

Again, thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you in Columbus.

Rick McIntosh

COABE 2004 Co-Manager
